Soweto Informal Settlement

We actively support local families in Soweto’s informal settlements by providing essential food supplies such as maize flour and samp, key staples in their daily diet. As part of the experience, our groups visit a local creche, where they can see firsthand how their contributions help ensure children receive nutritious meals. Group leaders should encourage group members to participate by purchasing additional supplies for the children, reinforcing our commitment to meaningful, responsible tourism that directly benefits the community.

Soweto Guided Tour

A guided tour through Soweto offers an immersive look at the township’s vibrant culture and its historical significance in the anti-apartheid movement. Led by a local guide, this tour provides deep insights into the struggles and triumphs of the community, ending with a visit to the Apartheid Museum for a broader understanding of South Africa’s complex past.

Group leaders should highlight the positive impact of these visits, which support local businesses and contribute to sustainable tourism while fostering cultural awareness among group members.

Zululand

In Zululand, groups stay in Mkuzi village at accommodation owned and run by a South African mother-daughter duo, ensuring direct support for the local community. This experience offers an authentic insight into Zulu culture through traditional dance performances, locally prepared meals, and interactions with school children at a nearby creche.

We provide essential school supplies and food, including maize flour, samp, and fresh fruit, ensuring a tangible benefit for the local families. Group leaders should emphasise the importance of engaging respectfully with the community and highlight how each visit positively contributes to the preservation of Zulu traditions and economic empowerment.
